UNPRECEDENTED TIMES CALL
FOR  EXPERT MEASURES.

EMP disrupts the current strategic enrollment management model, setting up colleges and universities for long-term, sustainable success. How? By teaching all levels of leadership to think strategically, create a high-performance culture that embraces innovation, and develop effective team habits. Off-the-shelf tactics produce mediocre results. High-performance teams win.

OUR CLIENTS COUNT ON EM-POWERHOUSE TO DELIVER TANGIBLE RESULTS.

Here are some examples of our work in action:

University of Vermont

As a recently appointed Vice President of Enrollment Management, Dr. Jay Jacobs was eager to continue building his leadership team after his first full year in the role. We began our engagement with the EM-Powerhouse Strategic Team Playbook training and followed it with three months of individualized executive coaching for each leader including the VP himself! As a result, the team has filled multiple vacant positions and have learned to retain their high performance team.

Miami University, Ohio

Coming out of the significant challenges of working through the pandemic, AVP & Dean of Admissions, Bethany Perkins, brought in EM-Powerhouse to pull together the leadership team for a customized, two-day leadership seminar. Miami has ambitious enrollment targets for the coming years and their admissions team needed to be fully staffed and prepared for the challenges ahead. Following this training, we worked with the VPEM and CMO leadership teams to conduct a series of virtual and in-person sessions to identify and define three strategic priorities that informed the creation of their five-year strategic plan.

Cal Poly Humboldt

Cal Poly Humboldt had experienced turnover in the chief enrollment officer position along with many other vacancies throughout the organization. The University President appointed the CFO to fill in as interim. We joined this talented leader and conducted a thorough review of the current organization’s strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities. We prioritized the needs for strengthening the EM organization and presented to the President’s Council. When a new VPEM was onboarded, our report progressed her organizational understanding by 6 months, allowing her to immediately link arms to design a roadmap to meet the university’s aggressive enrollment growth plans.

Baylor University

During our tenure at Baylor University, we designed and executed 2 strategic action plans to create new enrollment channels and diversify revenue streams, raised academic quality, out-of-state enrollment & student diversity while lowering discount rate significantly. Upon creating EM-Powerhouse, Baylor retained our services to help transition leadership of enrollment management to those next in line. Over that year, we facilitated our five-month Enrollment Management Academy, conducted group trainings on thinking strategically and leading teams, led educational sessions on the financial facts of enrollment management, all while continuing to lead strategy sessions with the leadership team. In the end, our successors were prepared to continue the great work already started and take the entire enrollment management team to the next level.

Abilene Christian University

EMP began its partnership with Abilene Christian University in October 2021. Coming out of the pandemic, the enrollment team needed a reboot to help them energize the team to meet enrollment goals. Weekly time with each leader enabled EMP to assess current challenges and provide immediate support. We created and delivered customized recruitment trainings and an enrollment management leadership retreat and supported the Vice President as she developed the five year strategic enrollment plan.

WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING

Their independent drive for excellence, improvement, creative solutions, and continuous innovation are hallmarks of their success and of their style as leaders.  This was perhaps most impactful and visible during the enormous disruption from the COVID pandemic.  It is accurate to note that the leadership of Jen and Jess  played a pivotal role in the successful strategies employed at our institution.  Through their leadership, Baylor was able to buck the national trends and to continue to grow and improve despite pressures that were devastating to so many other institutions.  I’m excited to see these leaders sharing their wealth of energy, experience, knowledge, and leadership with other institutions across the country.

Brett Dalton, Chief Business Officer, Baylor University

Jessica & Jen are unstoppable in overcoming tremendous challenges & leading teams forward. I wasn’t surprised when they beat the odds and brought in record enrollments during a global pandemic.  They are powerhouses and industry experts who are, quite simply, the answer to what most institutions need right now.

Elizabeth Scarborough Johnson, Chairman & Partner, Simpson Scarborough

I’ve known and respected Jen and Jessica as fellow, successful enrollment managers for a number of years. They always delivered impressive results and oftentimes did so during adverse and quickly changing circumstances. They had the knowledge and strategy to make adjustments during key times of the cycle to meet and exceed key enrollment and revenue goals.

Todd Rinehart, Vice Chancellor for Enrollment, University of Denver, 2020-2021 NACAC President

Coming from a background in which I worked alongside engineers and scientists, I wasn’t sure how the transition to higher ed (specifically, Enrollment Management) would be for me as a statistician.  In the research lab, data was intrinsic to every process and I was surrounded by fellow “quantoids”.  In Enrollment Management, this wouldn’t necessarily be the case. However, coming into the culture that Jen and Jessica had built, I was pleasantly surprised.  One of the central tenets of the department is that “data is king”; everyone relies on data and research to understand what has happened in the past, in order to drive decisions for the future.  My colleagues are eager to learn from our data (sometimes even more so than my former engineer colleagues!)  This data-informed culture was absolutely driven from the top, and that is what Jessica and Jen continue to bring in all of their working relationships.  They have plenty of “gut instincts” in higher ed (many of which turn out to be correct in the end!), but they will constantly be immersed in the data in order to make the optimal recommendations.

EM-P’s kick-off meeting with my team on high-performing teams was worth the price of admission and then some; the way we assess, cultivate, and ultimately retain talent will be forever changed because of Jess and Jen!
